Bertina Johnson
March 20, 1914 - October 23, 2015
JOHNSON, Bertina
March 20, 1914-October 23, 2015
After an amazing 101 years, Bertina peacefully left this world on October 23, 2015, surrounded by her family. She died as she lived, with grace and on her own terms. Her incredible strength and unending love for her family has and will always be an inspiration. Bertina’s life was guided by her strong faith. She was always giving to her loved ones through gardening, sewing, cooking and preserving. She loved children and spent many an hour babysitting her grandchildren. They have many fond memories of baking, playing bingo, puzzles and other games. She loved spending time with her great-grandchildren and making them smile.
She now joins many loved ones that have gone before her, including her husband Elmer. She will be forever missed by her children, Marian (Peter), Carol (Gerry) and Vernon (Helen); her grandchildren, Brad (Christina), Trina (Nick), Tim, Jeffrey (Melanie), Steven, Ashley (Kellen) and Brett; her great-grandchildren, Bella, Colton, Kaitlyn, Ethan and Vann. She is also survived by her sister Mabel Row and her brother Gus Herresvele.
The family would like to thank the Willow Creek Continuing Care Center South unit staff for all their loving care over the past 5 years. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Willow Creek Palliative Care. We would like to thank everyone who touched Bertina’s life with friendship and love.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Peace Lutheran Church (4304-2nd Street West) at 2:00 pm. Pastor Donna Alm Officiating. A private family burial will take place prior to the service.
“Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life.” REV.2:10.
