Leeman, Verena (Vreni)
September 16, 1930 – March 17, 2013

It is with great sadness, the family of Vreni Leeman announces the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and friend on Sunday, March 17, 2013.

Vreni is survived by her daughter Kathy (Daryl) Lock, grandchildren Trevor and Toshina; her son Thomas (Heather), grandchildren Christopher and Andrew; her daughter Doris (Ron) Lamb, grandchildren Ryan, Christina (Jason Robey), Jason and Scott; and her son Philip (Raine) and their son Jack. She is also survived by her sister Dorli, brother Hans (Alice) and numerous nieces and nephews, all in Switzerland. Vreni was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1992, as well as her parents and one sister.

Vreni was born on September 16, 1930 in Switzerland. She chose a career in nursing which took her to England, France and the Ivory Coast, Africa. She met Jack in 1960; he had begun farming east of Claresholm. They were married January 14, 1961 and immediately immigrated to Canada. She gave up her nursing career to raise four children on the farm. They taught their children the value of hard work, honesty, integrity, to love and care for each other.

After retiring from farming, Jack and Vreni enjoyed several years as “snow birds”, travelling back to Switzerland. They spent time with family and friends hiking and playing cards. Vreni felt most at home on the farm the past few years, and enjoyed her cat, flowers and garden.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bridges at Claresholm Golf Course on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Vreni may be made to the charity of your choice.
