Mildred Angeline Sikal (nee Falkenberg)
February 17, 1922 – March 8, 2013

It is with great sadness and a profound sense of loss, that we announce the passing of Mildred Sikal. Mum passed away peacefully on March 8, 2013 at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre in Claresholm, Alberta. She was born in Ponoka, Alberta to Minnie and Fred Falkenberg. She was educated in Edmonton and married Max Sikal on March 16, 1946. In 1972, Mum and Dad retired to Nanaimo, B.C. where she made many friends and enjoyed a full life of golf, bridge, bingo and bowling.

Mildred is survived by her son Dave (Kathryn); her daughter-in-law Narda; three grand-daughters, two great grand-daughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband in 2000 and her youngest son, Tom, in 2001.

Although Mum went through some trying times throughout her life, she never complained. She always had time for her family and friends and especially enjoyed dinner with a glass of wine and a bowl of ice cream for dessert. She will forever be remembered as a dedicated wife, a truly loving mother and an honest and true friend. Her kind and gentle spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre. Your outstanding care and consideration made Mum’s difficult path a little easier to walk. Bless you all.

At the family’s request, Mum’s life will be celebrated with a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice.
