Brown during World War II, while he was stationed overseas. Grant and May had one son, Gary, born in 1944. After the war ended, in February 1946, May and Gary left Scotland and travelled by ship across the Atlantic Ocean, arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia with thousands of other war brides. They then travelled by train across Canada to be met by Grant and his father in Calgary. The reunited family then went to the homestead home of Joe Brown. May began her new life on the farm, with very few modern conveniences. In 1953 she travelled back to Scotland to visit with family members, but Grant and May lived on the farm west of Stavely until 1974 when they built a new home in town.

May was a member of the Rebecca’s Lodge in Stavely. May had many nieces and nephews whom she was very fond of and delighted in visiting with them. She especially loved her grandsons, Dana and Josh, and the joys of her life were her great-granddaughters, Kasey and Sydney. May and Grant spent many hours travelling with Dana and Josh to hockey and rodeos, and later could always be found watching Kasey and Sydney skating and swimming.

May and Grant enjoyed travelling, visiting many places in Canada, the USA and Europe. Their final years were spent in Claresholm at Cottonwoods assisted living and Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre. The care in both of these facilities was exceptional. May will be missed by Gary (Janet), Dana (Marni), Josh, Kasey, Sydney, and Gail.

A private family service will take place at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.leydens.com. Arrangements entrusted to LEYDEN’S FUNERAL HOME, Claresholm.
