<div itemprop="description"><br />THORBURN, Dora Mae Viola <br />August 15, 1922 &ndash; October 2, 2013 <br /> <br />Dora Mae Thorburn passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on October 2, 2013 at age 91. <br />She is survived by her daughters Linda Allen of Lethbridge and Kathy (Don) Parker of Cochrane; her grandchildren Christie Archer of Lethbridge, Aaron Parker of Canmore, Lisa (Ryan) Scott of Calgary, Jenna (Phil) Robertson of Calgary and three precious great-granddaughters Kate and Megan Archer and Kaisely Robertson. She is also survived by her grandson-in-law Jim Archer as well as numerous nieces, nephews and four sisters-in-law. Dora Mae was predeceased by her parents, siblings, a son-in-law and her husbands Fred Curle and Bill Thorburn. <br /> <br />Dora Mae was born and raised on her family's farm in the Barons area. She was only ten when her mother passed away. She helped her father with all the household chores while continuing to attend Barons Consolidated School where she completed Grade 12. She married Fred Curle in 1943 and moved to the Curle homestead a few miles away, residing there until his passing in 1974. She married Bill Thorburn in 1977 and moved to Claresholm. She was an avid quilt maker, enjoyed cross stitch and gardening. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and volunteered for many organizations including the Auxiliary to the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre. DoraMae's main focus in life was her family and her home was the gathering place for many special occasions. <br /> <br />A celebration of life will be held at Peace Lutheran Church (4304 2nd Street West) in Claresholm, Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. with Donna Alm officiating. In lieu of flowers, a donation in DoraMae&rsquo;s memory may be made to the charity of your choice. <br /></div>
